I have a BS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, and have always enjoyed learning and teaching math and science. I have tutored on and off informally and formally since I was in junior high myself, when I used to help my younger sister and my classmates with their math questions. I have tutored math and a variety of other subjects part-time professionally off and on, since 1992, working with elementary through high school, as well as some community college and adult students. I taught middle school math from '01-'09, middle school science from '03-'07, elementary science from '02-'05, and middle school ESL, from '01-'02. I am known for being very approachable, and for making math accessible to students who have difficulties. I enjoy breaking down concepts into understandable bites, and asking students questions that let them discover just how much they really do know (often they know a lot more than they realize), and helping them to fill in the gaps that are impeding their progress and/or enjoyment in math. I take every opportunity to get as much professional development and to find useful math and science teaching resources as possible.
