About who needs care: My husband is 65 and has advanced COPD, he is on oxygen, and uses a walker. It has come to the point that he shouldn't be left alone for very long. I want to be able to go camping twice this summer, with family and friends, so I am looking for someone to move in for 4 days in July, over 4th of July; and again for 4 days in September over Labor Day. He doesn't have any hobbies. He likes to read the newspaper and watch TV. His typical day is up at 8 a.m. and I help him get dressed and he walks to his chair in the living room. I get him his medicines, a cup of tea, and a dish of tapioca. Up until noon or 1 p.m. he has green tea and then he has a glass of wine. I start fixing our main meal at 1 p.m. and we eat at 2 p.m. He generally urinates in a bucket by his chair in the front room and I empty that in the toilet when needed. He can walk to the bathroom for bowel movements but I walk with him. We have our lunch/snack meal around 7 p.m. He then has a glass of brandy on ice in the evening and either naps or watches TV until he is ready to go to bed around 10 to 11 p.m. I help him get undressed and give him his evening meds.
About the care needs: Someone who is friendly and somewhat talkative. There are no specialized skills that are needed, just able to offer assistance in some lite personal care and able to be here 24 hours per day for the whole time I am gone. There are no specific hobbies or interests that are needed to interact with Ron. The person should bring things to do such as reading a book or knitting/crocheting, etc., to occupy their time when they aren't doing something for Ron.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, dressing, and mobility assistance.
