Hello, We are looking for someone to periodically watch our Autistic adult son (Brian 29) when we go out (ie: Date night). He needs someone to make sure he is safe, a little company/companionship (he likes to know someone is in the house with him), prepare his meals, and give him his medications. He will entertain himself on his computer and DVD's (trains and Disney). He puts himself to bed and is fully continent (goes to bathroom on his own). Our long term goal would be to find someone who could spend nights with him and allow us to go on vacation in 2026 and beyond. But we would need to build up to that as bonding with Brian is crucial. Though, his is a "Charmer" in his own way. Brian has minimal communication skills but understands a lot in written form, he reads fluently. Hence we write down daily schedules for him and he crosses out activities when completed and knows what's next. That gives him the greatest comfort (he cannot handle surprises or loud noises). He struggles with understanding verbal instruction and/or communication. Cannot process info that way. So speaking in simple words calmly is best. He is echo-lalic (sp?) meaning he will repeat the last words you say to him. We realize this job will not be a weekly endeavor as one may prefer but in long run the overnight stays and multiple days stays will be economically favorable. Please let us know if you're interested in learning more. Best, Richard and Katie
