Tom, my father has significant vision loss and needs guidance thought the house. He is 88, cognitively fine and physically fine. But needs help getting around because he can't see. Just be there to help him go to his office to the family room. Fix his coffee and get him what ever he wants to eat - usually just a couple of cookies. Reheat left overs for his dinner or call in an order to go. Drive to pick it up and return. (He can sit in his chair in the family room and wait not moving until you return.) He usually has a nightcap and calls his partner on the phone about 5:30. Eats dinner at 6:15. Sits back in the family room has a Bailey's over ice. Then about 8:00 goes to change into nights sweats, brushes teeth and gets into bed to watch tv. The aid can just be in the family room until the relief comes at 10:00. Patience. Can use an iPhone, can help with medications. Not a chatter box. He doesn't do small talk. Prefers silence with a few words here and there - though he's a very nice man! Park in a private home garage. No pets.
