About who needs care: Dad turns 89 this week. He has Parkinson's. He fell about 6 months ago and fractured his hip in two places and at that time had to be put on a catheter and still has it. He has gotten a couple of serious UTI's since then that have put him in the hospital, so we want to be able to get rid of the catheter, but so far, no luck with that. He wears hearing aids, but is very sharp mentally! He was a teacher, principal and school district administrator during his career and also a City Council member. He was an avid golfer until his Parkinson's took over. He and mom have been married for over 60 years and she is in very good health. It's just getting to be too much for her to be his main caretaker at home because of his mobility issues. He still walks with a walker, but needs someone close by, just in case. They love to get out and go for breakfast or lunch! About the care needs: Someone who likes conversation and has an upbeat, friendly personality! Someone who could help with bathing, etc. My parents live in a lovely two story house and never go upstairs anymore. There are two rooms and a full bathroom up there that could be used by the caregiver when they aren't needed downstairs, which would mean a lot free time upstairs, most likely. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
