About who needs care: Looking for a caregiver/driver for my husband who is 69 years old and has dementia. Main responsibilities would include driving him to appointments, gym, and to activities like lunch or a hike! The ideal candidate is able to go on long walks. A huge plus would be finding a caregiver who is experienced working with senior care (especially dementia/memory loss). Helping him find coping skills, emotional regulation, and dealing with anxiety. He currently is in denial of his dementia and doesn't talk about his diagnosis so finding ways to help understand his condition and accept where he's at would be extremely helpful for this process. Having a caregiver that is capable of redirecting him in activities that he cannot participate in would be greatly appreciated. For example, he no longer has a drivers license but still believes he has one. Our family truly believes he can still live a happy, joyful, and meaningful life and we're hopeful that the right match will support him in his journey. My husband is a lover of hiking, food, music, sports, and is always up for jokes! He is a very sweet, loving man that is easy to be with he just needs some extra support and compassion at this time! About the care needs: Patient, Kind, Compassionate, Knowledgable w/ memory loss, able to drive, active/energy for activities, sense of humor Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
