About who needs care: She got delirium from a hospital stay (AKI) and it affected her ADLs and short term memory - specifically her executive function. She is acutely aware that her short term memory is gone & is being treated for severe depression. Normally she is a very fun, happy lady who loves people but the shock of the situation has hampered her ability to interact. About the care needs: She doesn't do well with high energy talkers. She is shy and a people pleaser so if tasks are presented as Will you help me, she is more likely to do the task. She will not ask for help. She does not want to be a bother. The #1 stressor for her is if we ask her to do anything! She immediately says no to everything and we think it is fear that she thinks she cannot do it. Words like shower, laundry, doctor appointment - her first reaction is panic, then Oh No! So we break it down into little steps. Come upstairs. These are clean undies. Let me help you put them on. :) She needs prompting for face washing and brushing teeth. Again, we ask her where her toothbrush is and she will brush her teeth. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
