About who needs care: Randy (our dad) is suffering from a recent diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. The onset of the disease has been very rapid. Although he's had signs for the past two years, the past 8 weeks he has declined infinitely more than the past two years. We are still learning what is best for him. My mom, and his 3 children are providing the best care possible for him but we need help. He has "good" days and "bad" days. Bad days involve pacing, being nonverbal, paranoia etc. On good days he is calm and quiet. He always has been such a polite and kind individual, so we are actively learning his new behaviors and personality from this awful disease. About the care needs: We are looking for someone who can care and provide support for our dad. We are looking for someone who can start a long term friendship / care for my father. Our mom (his wife) still lives there and is a wonderful caregiver, she just needs help. His 3 kids are all in Columbus and provide significant help. The ideal candidate will be someone who can start a meaningful long term relationship with our dad. We anticipate some days will be easy, perhaps my mom and dad (or kids) will hang out with him and you will be there for support. Other days will be harder, you will be the only one in the house hanging out with him. We would expect the ideal caregiver to be a friend and comfort him, but also be able to convince him to take meds and take a shower etc. Randy was a successful CEO in Cbus and lives in Dublin. He loved sports. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
