About who needs care: He has pancreatic cancer and is nearing the end of his life. He also has severe mobility issues due to neuropathy, making it extremely difficult for me and my children to manage his care needs. He currently cannot get up to go to the bathroom and needs to use a bed pan or be cleaned up. It is challenging to lift him for the bed pan and reposition him, since he has muscle weakness over his whole body and cannot help at all by lifting his own body. He has also been suffering cognitive decline due to his illnesses. He can understand what we are saying to him, and he attempts to reply but it is nearly impossible for him to express himself. Because of this issue, he needs care from someone extremely patient and compassionate, who will take the time to reassure him and listen to what he is trying to say. He needs assistance to eat and drink. We will have a hospital bed in our home while he receives hospice care. About the care needs: Our ideal caregiver would be very physically strong, patient, and able to remain compassionate when he has difficulty understanding directions or expressing himself. They should be able to help with toileting/bathroom needs and hygiene. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
