About who needs care: She's type 2 diabetic & was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma (brain tumor) last year (stabilized). Sailed through radiation/chemo with no issues or side effects. Has short-term memory issues, incontinence issues (wears Depends), high blood pressure, kidney failure (stabilized), arthritis. Low / stiff mobility. Eats well - just needs to be mindful of sugar intake. Just need someone to spend some time with her in the AM and make sure she's set up for the day. Might turn into a longer need during the day, but figured we might start out with just the mornings. She loves singing, musicals, westerns (oldies), talking about pretty much anything. Generally always cheerful. Not in any pain. We administer her medications. Sleeps well, but gets up in the middle of the night and has accidents (might need help washing her sheets from time to time). She wakes up, gets ready for the day (low maintenance) and mostly watches TV. My brother and I take her to her doc appts. About the care needs: Great sense of humor, loves chatting. She doesn't really discuss politics, money or religion. Loves watching old westerns and eating. She might need help getting up and down and reminders to use the bathroom (Depends are for accidents, not meant to be the toilet). Short-term memory issues stemming from radiation. Services needed include: companionship, and mobility assistance.
