About who needs care: My mom had a stroke in 2022, and although she recovered well, her memory and processing time are affected, especially short-term memory. She can do self care on her own, but needs help preparing breakfast and lunch. She has lived a very interesting life with many stories to tell but after the stroke, she has a harder time remembering and a harder time finding words. She enjoys word search, number match game on her phone, and loves to sing. She has busy mornings which start with her morning self care routine, then breakfast, and as weather allowed, a walk in her neighborhood. After the walk, she does some very light exercises indoors, and then eats lunch. The caregiver typically comes at 10 a.m. to help prepare her simple breakfast and to do light chores, walk with her and prepare lunch, and leaves at 2 p.m. after setting out her lunch. In the afternoon, she has leisure time, relaxing on her chair watching humming birds and napping. About the care needs: A caring, sweet person with patience and understanding and is willing to learn new ways of doing things (as my mom is a bit particular) will be a good fit. They just need to come with compassion and an open mind. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
