About who needs care: Our son is 30 and has a neurological condition that remains undiagnosed but has some Parkinsons-like symptoms. He cannot walk without help, has difficulty swallowing and speaking, and uses a wheelchair to get around the house. He retains his sense of humor, likes to use his switch or phone but has difficulty texting. An ideal day starts with meds and a good breakfast, working on sitting up straight. A little rest and phone time before lunch, then a bath early afternoon means he's ready for game night, dinner out, or watching a show. He weighs about 140 lbs and is stubbornly working to regain independence, but still needs significant help every day. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
