About who needs care: Mom has been diabetic for about 20 years. She has been living independently in a senior living facility. She was using a rolling walker, her meals and light housekeeping are provided, I supervised her bathing every week, took her to the grocery store and filled her medication planner. She had a stroke about 2 weeks ago and is currently in rehab in Shreveport. She is still able to walk with her walker and transfer with just someone standing close by. Since the stroke she has been confused and needs supervision and reassurance to remain safe. Mom's typical day before her stroke revolved around reading, watching TV, eating in the dining room with her friends, going to the mailbox to check her mail, and sitting with friends on the benches in front of the facility. Right now, Mom needs overnight supervision every day of the week while she is in the rehab center and potentially when she returns to her apartment in Bossier City. About the care needs: We are looking for someone who is patient, able to visit and engage in conversation. Ideally, Mom needs a person who can simplify instructions and repeat as needed.
