About who needs care: I'm a very mellow, laid back person who will be 65 in November 2025. I am currently in chemotherapy for colon cancer, metastacized to my right lung - hopefully about to find out I'm done! I'm 5'8" and twice what I should weigh. After radiation therapy, I have been so frazzled down I am quite useless. I require the basics, cooking, cleaning, laundry, errands, etc. (If possible, errands make a good chance to get out. and exercise some mental activity.) I can shower and dress, but I do need assistance with foot care. Ii can reach, but can't see what I'm doing or manage what I'm doing well. I spend 98% of my time with my TV and computer. The Lenexa Rec Center has a beautiful facility, and I'm looking for someone who would be willing to go along as caregiver, whether also getting in the pool/using the facilities, or just accompanying. I am a non-insulin type II diabetic. I have a one-bedroom apartment that is overwhelmed with my stuff, remnants from my late husband and my mother. It's not hoarding, just crowded. I have a 16 lb, 8-yr-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix that loves attention and barks a lot. He is very comfortable in his pen when needed. I have daytime hours, and I have sleep-support. I seriously need your help! About the care needs: - Outgoing. - Willing to chat. Being able to work independently is important, but also not someone who must be left alone to function. - Able to take direction, I may have different ideas about how I want things, must be able... to work independently (I know, redundant) I am a Christian, love music, worked years at the KC Renaissance Festival, Science Fiction fan, love costuming/cosplay, Frustrated writer, my taste in food varies, please be able to follow a recipe! What I *can* eat, what I'm *capable* of eating, with the medical situation, varies moment to moment. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
