About who needs care: He has dementia and diabetes and requires assistance with mobility around the house, bathing, occasional feeding (he mostly feeds himself), and light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and simple meal prep. He also needs support with checking his blood sugar four times a day (before meals and at bedtime) and taking his morning and evening medications, which are pre-organized. He enjoys watching TVespecially Fox News, MeTV, golf, basketball, and football. Most of his time is spent relaxing in his chair, doing light therapy exercises like walking with a walker (with help), sitting on the back porch watching boats on the river, and enjoying conversations. Ideal shifts are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and/or 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. to keep days and nights simple, though we're open to adjustments. He stays at home and follows a steady routine. I live in the home as well but need extra help due to my own limited mobilityboth with his care and with general household tasks. About the care needs: Looking for someone reliable and kind who is experienced with dementia and diabetes care. They should be able to assist with mobility, bathing, blood sugar checks, light cooking, laundry, and general help around the house. Must be able to safely assist with transport in all circumstanceswhether he's having a stronger day or a weaker including the rare possibility that he may need help getting up from the floor and back into a chair or bed. A CNA, LPN, or someone with similar or higher-level caregiving experience is a bonus. Ideal caregivers are calm, consistent, and able to follow a routine while also being flexible as needs come up. Prefer someone who's comfortable with both day and night shifts and can help make the day go smoothly for everyone involved. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
