About who needs care: My father-in-law obtained a C3 - C5 spinal cord injury (incomplete) in August, and will be moving back home soon (ETA: mid-December). He is unable to use his hands, feet, torso, etc; therefore, he will need 24/7 care. This will include feeding, hygiene (bathing, bathroom, etc), movement, and companionship. It is preferred the individual is CPR certified, comfortable with massaging limbs and assisting with stretching, can assist with lifting to and from laying or seated positions (he is approx. 185 lbs), can drive a wheelchair accessible van to and from appointments, knowledgeable with a hoyer lift, and enjoys the outdoors as much as he does. About the care needs: He will require frequent rolling, stretching, and mobility exercises to encourage neuron stimulation. The goal is to assist him with regaining mobility. He enjoys horses, being outdoors, music, and he LOVES to talk. We will need someone with thick skin because he has been the owner of his own cabinet business his entire life, and is used to being in charge. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
