About who needs care: My mom has lived in Kona since 1980 and was a member of the Kona Choral Society for many, many years. She turned 99 on Halloween and lives independently in a condo in Keauhou. She is smart, kind, and clear-minded. She enjoys playing Scrabble and swimming in her condo's pool. She uses a walker to get around and is very independent in nature. Lately, she is frustrated by fatigue and is having challenges in taking care of all her needs. My brother lives close by and does her shopping and gets her to doctor's appointments, etc. What we are looking for is a companion to come, fix a few simple meals per week, and help her with washing her hair and getting her in and out of the shower. She has someone who comes and cleans her condo. About the care needs: Ideally, we are looking for someone who is kind, with a clear speaking voice (she is somewhat hard of hearing), who views their work not as a chore, but as an opportunity to develop friendship with a woman who is nearly 100 years old. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
