About who needs care: My aunt has no actual, pressing medical issues -- she has over 62 diagnosed "conditions" -- two of those ARE able to be identified with actual Lab work; In an effort to try and be as transparent as possible, she, for example, gets a headache AND as many of us do when there's a sudden shift in Barometric pressure... Except she calls hers "Migraines" even though literally none of the usual migraine-associated symptoms apply to her with the exception of feeling a dull pain in her head/scalp region (AND a neurologist + MRIs/diagnostics and a Rheumatologist + additional lab work said she is not experiencing actual "Migraines" as defined medically but may have a mild to moderate headache that should ONLY be treated with Tylenol -- she prefers Tylenol Migraine but was experiencing "rebound effects" from the added caffeine without realizing it)-- No medical professional has diagnosed her with Migraines. So, TO THAT is the start of my "Auntie Intro". She was put on an Oxygen generator that is set to 2L in early 2025 but does not like wearing the cannula because she thinks "it makes her look old.". .... 11 months ago, she was wearing an adult garment for urination "oopsies", but she now uses them to relieve herself around the clock -- because, in her own, often repeated words, it's easier that going a few feet to the bathroom."... Even though she seems to be embarrassed when anyone brings up the string urine odor. She thinks spraying a Lysol can will remove the odor even though she's been advised repeatedly that spraying Lysol over urine will just result in her area smelling like " Urine sprayed with Lysol". . There's no other way to put it than to say she is EXTREMELY lazy -- and she will readily admit to this. As an FYI, when she wants something to be done in her house -- example, moving piece of furniture (under 40lbs) to another room and no one is there to help her in that moment, she will do it herself WITHOUT ANY ISSUES but would be hard pressed to lift a butterfly if others are around to help. I'm fairly certain EVERYONE in the family agrees on this (as sad as it is-- she had a "Medicare-Sponsored Helper" who came for 7 hours every other week to assist wit limited cleaning and food prep. According to her daughter, she chased two of those ladies way. I'm probably leaving too much detail, but I don't want there to be any surprises. About the care needs: The type of personality that is able to recognize manipulative behavior., as sad as that is to say Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
