About who needs care: Carolyn is 85 years old and was the longtime accompanist for the University of Florida's voice department. Carolyn also spent several years in the Peace Corps and spent a good amount of time in Central America. She's a highly intelligent but reclusive person. Carolyn requires assistance with healthy meal preparation, bathing, dressing, and some toileting. She has experienced some memory loss, but she remains well-oriented, aware of her surroundings, and has no memory loss when it comes to knowing her family. Carolyn tends to spend a lot of time alone in her bedroom, so we are looking for a caregiver with a friendly, outgoing personality who can gently encourage her to engage socially and mentally. She tends to resist getting outside for fresh air but will do so with encouragement. About the care needs: Were seeking a compassionate and engaging caregiver who can support Carolyn with her daily needs while also providing enriching companionship. Carolyn tends to be reclusive, so a friendly and outgoing personality is ideal to help gently draw her out and connect with her. A caregiver who values classical music and the arts would be a wonderful fit, as Carolyn comes from a long line of musicians and was a professional pianist herself. She also enjoys staying up to date on current events and chatting about politics and the world, especially while watching CNN or MSNBC. We're looking for someone who will see caregiving as a chance to connect meaningfully and bring more joy, stimulation, and companionship into her daily life while also caring for her physical needs. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
