About who needs care: Diabetic with early stage dementia, mobility limited and lower limb coordination/balance issues. Major concern is remembering to take his medicine 3x daily and at the correct dosages. Help with general household chores and caring for his two small dogs also necessary (walks in the backyard). Usually wakes around 8:00 when dogs need to be fed, relaxes around the house most of the day since driving is difficult, dinner around 7:00 and bed at 10:00. About the care needs: Dad is not particularly social, but friendly and easy going. Someone with a similar easy going personality would be best. Our mother just passed, and she was his primary caretaker and partner for 50 years, so this transition will be difficult for him and some companionship very helpful. my sister and I both live relatively close and can also spend time with him but between kids and work we will need someone to be the point person for checking in on dad and making sure he takes his medicine every day. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
