About who needs care: Mom has cognitive/memory delays and needs some additional support for meals, cooking, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and general companionship. Currently, her husband is her sole caregiver and needs a 2nd set of eyes/hands to care for her and the daily household chores. Our idea of her ideal day would be for her to get up & dressed every day, eat multiple meals each day, some physical activity, and engage her in conversation. She recently had eye surgery and it's been difficult for her to see so she is somewhat withdrawn. We can be flexible on days and times for scheduling. She is a firecracker and we're looking for someone patient with experience working for a strong-willed, independent person with cognitive issues. About the care needs: Someone who is creative and flexible in their approach, who can be kind but not a push-over. A sense of humor is a must. In this household, we have a husband and wife who are not used to other people being in the house with them and sometimes push back to changes to their "routine". A creative problem solver who wants to work with their "routine" while creating some new and better systems. It's very important that they feel supported and have some control/say. If your approach is to come in and completely take over, this is not the job for you. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
