About who needs care: Mary has Multiple Sclerosis and uses a wheelchair in the house. She also has diabetes and needs help changing her insulin pump and glucose monitor when I'm away. She loves to read, listen to music and watch movies, documentaries, scary movies, and progressive news. Her ideal world is one where she is up most of the night and gets up around 2 p.m. About the care needs: Someone who is not homophobic or racist. We are a mixed race lesbian couple. We would prefer a woman. They should feel comfortable changing an insulin pump and glucose meter. Mary is incontinent at times; sometimes there are messes to clean and bedding to change. It would help if the person is a reader and enjoys conversation about books and current events. Mary does have some cognitive issues when her MS flares up. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
