About who needs care: He has a long-term MS condition which has affected his cognitive function, short-term memory and mobility. Watching TV, engaging in conversation with caregivers, playing pool, some simple card and other games. Currently we have caregivers coming in for two four hour shifts each day of the week to administer meds, take basic vital readings, review and add to logs, perform basic housekeeping duties, fix meals, etc. They are supervised by a care manager who maintains the schedule, arranges his medical appointments and brings him to them, shops and manages the property. About the care needs: The client can be very friendly and charming but is sometimes moody and disengaged. Being able to accept those shifting moods is helpful. Being friendly and talkative, good at meal preparation, a good team player to maintain the goals and policies of the staff are all helpful traits. Reliability, kindness, maintaining good communications with the care manager and punctuality are important. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
