About who needs care: My father has vascular dementia and is being asked to leave the ASL facility he was recently placed in. He moved up to VT from FL and has had a tendency to elope from the facility in VT. It is not a locked facility, so they are concerned for his safety, that is why they are asking for him to move out. He is very polite and pleasant, and cooperative, but he just wants to wander and walk out of the facility that is so new to him. I have a full time job, that I can't afford to lose. Since I don't have a place for him to go to in this transition, I will have to have him at my house for the interim. I work Tu-Sat, from 11-7:30 with a 45 min commute on each end of my shift. I would like someone to be with him to prevent falls while he's in my log home, heated by a wood stove. The dementia is really the biggest health issue, all other health issues are well managed by medications, like HBP, Hypothyroidism, diabetes. About the care needs: Someone with physical strength to be able to pick him up if he falls. Someone with acute observations as he is very active and would need watching so he doesn't fall as he moves around my house. Someone who has knowledge of arts and music, literature and hopefully poetry, these are my father's interests. Services needed include: companionship.
