About who needs care: Do they have any underlying conditions? My dad has Parkinsons disease and is also pre-diabetic. He may have a few other age-related concerns, but these are the main conditions we actively monitor. What are their hobbies and interests? Hes always loved cars, mechanical work, and anything related to engines and how things function. These days, he mostly enjoys watching TV shows about cars, mechanics, and similar topics. He also loves electronics computers, his phone, and pretty much anything tech-related. How would they structure their ideal day? His ideal day is very simple and relaxed. He usually wakes up in the late morning or early afternoon. Most of his day is spent watching TV, using his phone or computer, eating, resting, and going to the bathroom as needed. He doesnt have a complicated routine. Occasionally, hell have a doctors appointment or another scheduled outing, usually about once a month, but otherwise he prefers calm, predictable days at home. About the care needs: Im looking for someone dependable, patient, and a good communicator. A warm, talkative personality would be great since my dad gets lonely and benefits from companionship. No major specialized skills are neededjust consistency with his pill every four hours and changing his medication patches. The caregiver must be strong enough to help lift or support about 215 lbs, so a male caregiver may be a better fit physically. It would be nice (but not required) if they were African American, as hed likely feel especially comfortable. No specific hobbies neededjust someone kind whos willing to talk and keep him company. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
