About who needs care: My sister is 32 years old and has a movement disorder that leaves her wheelchair bound fully dependent on those around her with every day functions. She requires help with changing in the morning and lifting from her bed and into her wheelchair using an electrical lift. She also requires feeding and bathing. She attends a day program and would need the caregiver to accompany her to and from the program. There she participates in various activities revolving around art, music and socialization. My sister is able to fully speak (with some difficulty) and has outstanding cognitive function. Her disability is mainly physical. She has transportation arranged to take her to the program and bring her back every week day. She wakes up at 8 a.m. and leaves for the program around 10 a.m. She comes back around 2:30 p.m. And the care giver would leave after that. About the care needs: Someone who is physically able to do the work. Someone compassionate, patient and kind. Someone with a fun personality who can interact with her in a lighthearted way. My sister is very engaged in social media and is the spokesperson for her day program. She loves to advocate for others with disability. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
