About who needs care: This position is for my mother with Alzheimer's who has had this disease for 20yrs. You must be able to perform basic personal care aide tasks getting mom ready in the morning(dressed, toileting, feeding) then sitting at our home while we do errands and attend to her husband (my father) outside of the home AND live our lives. Then toileting and feeding lunch in early afternoon before leaving for the day. You will have to fold her laundry, thicken her drinks and heat her food, but for the most part, you can do homework if you are a student (online or otherwise), read, do puzzles, knit, crotchet, etc. There will be additional opportunities for more hours if you are interested. Most of the day is spent doing whatever you choose to do since she sleeps a large portion of the day. NO housework other than cleaning her dishes and cleaning her space which is truly minimal. About the care needs: NO Certifications needed! You will be trained! A student is perfect for this position since this job has loads of down time to do homework or whatever you desire. Must be able to perform basic personal care needs, toileting, dressing, feeding. Must be empathetic and able to understand non verbal cues. Must be a pet lover - we have two giant dogs. They live here and will lounge in the same space. Services needed include: meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
