About who needs care: My mom needs help caring for my dad who has dementia and Parkinsons. He typically gets up around 11 a.m. and goes to sleep around midnight. Ideally, we would like someone who could live in their spare bedroom and be there, its 11 a.m. and goes to sleep around midnight. Ideally, we would like someone who could live in their spare bedroom and be there, especially in the evening, to help my mom get him into bed from the wheelchair, since she is not able to do it by herself and he is getting weaker. As far as his hobbies and interests, he likes model, airplanes, fishing, cars, sitting on the back porch and watching the deer, watching LSU football. Due to the dementia, most of what he talks about are things from 40 or 50 years ago. About the care needs: The person needs to be patient and have a good sense of humor. They must not be easily offended if he does not think he needs help but able to nicely insist that he let them help anyway. They need to be physically able to lift at least 50 pounds in order to help him stand up and transfer. Services needed include: companionship, and mobility assistance.
