About who needs care: Husband and wife, both in their late 90's, both mostly bedbound. Husband is a veteran with Parkinson's and heart disease. He has a Foley catheter. Wife has late stage dementia. Must use a lift to move them from bed to recliner. They get bathed in the morning and move to their chairs by 10, get fed breakfast and sit up until early afternoon. Move to the beds until around four or five, when they move back to their chairs for dinner. They sit up until they are tired or until bedtime. They enjoy being talked to and watching The Gameshow Network. They sleep most of the day. Husband enjoys watching his team, the Dallas Cowboys. They're both very sociable and enjoy being talked to. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver is someone who is dependable, enjoys being around elderly people, is flexible, and is willing and able to perform the Activities of Daily Living. They should be * experienced with a Hoyer Lift * experienced with caring for a patient who has a catheter *experienced with dementia and memory care * able to anticipate the needs of someone who is not able to communicate Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
