About who needs care: Currently, Mom lives in Assisted Living but that is very expensive and not sustainable financially. Ideally, I'd like to find her a small apartment, one-level, accessible or a small home. she is very social and loves activities and other people, games, crafts, etc. My husband and I work full-time. Mom has a wide range of health conditions that affect her ability to live on her own. She's on several medications and I would look into purchasing Life alert button for her wear as she is a fall risk. She's not ambulatory though walks short distances with a walker. she is now battling cellulitis and edema in her legs. physical shape is not great but her mental outlook and attitude is beautiful. She can eat herself but making meals is a no. love shop. I'd also like to get her a PCP outside of Assisted Living. she will need numerous specialists including: cardiologist, wound care, pain management, neurologist, orthopedic specialist, etc. About the care needs: I'm just exploring options right now. ideally we would have continual monitoring in case she falls or becomes ill. Assisted Living does provide that priceless oversight and I know I'll get a call if something happens. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
