About who needs care: Margaret is 71 and has early dementia. She is a former nurse practitioner and remembers amazing details about anatomy and medical practice, and is able to carry on conversations fairly coherently. But she has little short term memory, she misplaces her phone and computer multi times per day. She sometimes gets confused about what city and house she lives in and who lives here (it's just me and her), thinks there are 2 Portlands in Oregon, and has other memory and cognitive lapses. Overall, I just need a break a few times a week from the constant caregiving and supervising. Margaret could definitely use some companionship, occasional transportation or outings that she'd find interesting. About the care needs: Personality for a caregiver: compassionate, friendly, with a sense of humor, politically left, patient, with varied interests. Margaret is capable of normal daily functions - dressing, bathing, easy food prep, etc., so she doesn't need specialized skills in those areas. I supervise her meds. No recent surgeries. She does have some problems with pain in her ankles or legs at times. Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
