Searching for reliable caregivers in the Phoenix, NY area for my 72 yr old brother. He is a quadriplegic, living on his own, but he requires a personal aide to get him up in his wheelchair each morning, and back to bed each evening. His personal care requires a bed bath, dressing him, catheter bag change (emptying), ostomy care, wound care, and transferring in & out of wheelchair (slide board or Hoyer lift). Light meal prep and housekeeping; pill reminding, too. We currently have a caregiver but are looking for another to either fill in when she can't come or to share the shifts with her. Ideally, we'd like someone who is signed up with PPL (or willing to sign up), as my brother is on Medicaid and his care is paid through PPL. However, we can pay out-of-pocket for the occasional filling in for his regular caregiver. We will train you to any of his care you are not familiar with. We're looking for a caregiver who, most importantly, is reliable and trustworthy; who communicates well; and who has reliable transportation. My brother is independent, and once he's up in his chair he keeps busy on his computer; loves watching Yankee games and NASCAR on TV and hanging out with his neighbors in his housing community.
