About who needs care: Two parents, aged 88 and 90, live independently in a single-family home in Clarence Center. Both parents are losing the ability to perform daily chores without assistance. Dressing, bathing, and eating are not issues. Housekeeping, laundry, errands/shopping, meal prep, daily med, and yardwork are areas where help is most needed. About the care needs: Calm persistence is needed. Dad will offer the greatest initial resistance, and the ideal candidate will put up with rude behavior while patiently waiting to earn his acceptance and trust. Most of the caregiver tasks will be directed toward easing mom's workload. The ideal caregiver will be attentive to completing tasks as mom would want them done. A caregiver with basic tech competencies (PC, smart phone, CATV) would be a desired bonus. Mom used to sew, quilt, and cross stitch. She has all the equipment. Dad likes to meet up with buddies in town to talk, and will chew your ear off discussing (complaining) about town politics. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
