About who needs care: Hi! My mom is 77, and has been declining the last couple years. She has been in and out of the er/hospital/rehab this year, probably 7 times just since January. Chronic UTI's and urosepsis have made her more weak and limited mobility. She struggles with both high bp AND orthostatic hypotension, type 2 diabetic, incontinence from front and back (colo-rectal cancer survivor 7 years)... also some anxiety/depression. Can get tremors/wobbly. And is so susceptible to the uti anymore, she can be fine at bedtime and be completely out of it in the morning. Uses a wheelchair for most part. Mornings aren't her best, usually doesn't wake up til 10-11am... get her up and pottied and changed and fed. She does letter writing. Then dinner time 5-6pm, and around 8pm potty, teeth out. We do have 3 cats and 1 senior dog (blind and deaf shih-tzu lol) non-smoking house. I've been mom's caretaker about a decade, took care of her thru her cancer/iliostomy, then had taken care of my dad for the last couple years when he battled esophageal cancer. We lost him almost 2 years ago, mom has gone downhill, each uti takes a little more out of her. If someone is local (Barnegat), I could use a break sometimes... I have a 2 year old granddaughter in Wisconsin, but have only gotten to see her twice, can't leave mom. I've been burnt out awhile, but could use help so I can have a day(s) off. I do need to take a mini-vacation Nov 1st - 4th. Could use someone to come up 2x a day, about an hour or two each visit. Get her awake and med and fed and changed in late morning... and again in evening for dinner, meds, (insulin at night) and ready for bed... if possible to let the pup out in fenced in backyard, top off their (cats & dog food/water and kitty litter). She does have someone that will live/sleep here every night and can help a bit back and forth... but he's in his 70's and works full time too. Any questions , please don't hesitate to ask. Would like to find someone relaxed and available, especially that weekend. But would like to meet and walk thru house and needs. Thanks so much! Keri About the care needs: Mom has meds, I set them up for a week in advance. The insulin is in a pen format, so she gets 10 units. Someone relaxed and chatty. She likes to talk a bit too, but she always worries not to be a bother, so definitely need someone proactive in making sure she really IS good. Especially when I'm gone, she covers things up/hides them, especially if not feeling good and wants me to relax and not worry about her. Preferably someone who is ok to help mom and the animals. She loves her TV, letter writing, word find books... Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
