About who needs care: My spouse has early-mid stage Alzheimers. We are looking for a companion, ideally with interest in history, possibly current events, classical and other music, who likes to talk and is a good listener as well. A drivers license is important, as some errands and transport to events & appointments will be needed. Mark gas always liked to fix things, but now this is hard without help - and he has a strong streak of frugality which keeps him looking for cost effective entertainment. We are thinking to start with just a few hours a week, and if things go well, extend to several hours a day several days per week. Some flexibility in scheduling would be an asset. About the care needs: A good sense of humor is helpful, and as mentioned earlier, a person who likes to both talk and listen is important. Later on, personal care skills may become needed, but not for right now. A love of history, music, the outdoors & walking, as well as possibly some basic cooking skills would all make for a good match. A bonus would be someone who likes to repair things and use basic tools. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
