About who needs care: He is being treated for bladder cancer. He has a standing appointment for his shots every two weeks. He also needs someone to take him to other doctor appointments, bank and occasional supermarket. He is able to dress himself unless there are buttons involved. He is able to get around with his cane and walker. He is pretty easy to take care of but unable to live without assistance. An ideal day is he gets up gets dressed and has breakfast, then he will sit and watch the news on occasion he will sit on the front porch. He also likes to make his own food now and then. His eyes are not that great but he manages, depending on how his legs feel he can be a little unstable. On good days he likes to go for a walk. He has a live in but unfortunately she is leaving for up to 3 months so I am left without care for him. I am evaluating if we will have her still work for him. About the care needs: He will talk to anyone, He has plenty of stories to tell in his 89 years. The one issue with his live in is she does not speak English . He was born in Portugal but Portuguese is not the same as Colombian. On occasion there is a language barrier. I speak to her through a translator. His hobbies are unfortunately something he can no longer do. He was a carpenter so he liked making things in his garage but because of his eyes that is not doable along with driving. He also likes to stop at my husband's warehouse to see his grandchildren working. He usual stays 20 minutes.
