About who needs care: My dad is currently in hospice in home care but hoping for additional help on days they are not here. My mom is 73 and recently had a fall where she had multiple broken ribs so not able to move and help my dad safely. My mom has no caregiving experience and is having a hard time accepting she can't help him on her own, and in denial we were told he cant be alone. Before I arrived it had been weeks without a bath etc. My brother and I both live out of state. Dad has not eaten solid food in a month. Mild stroke suspected but he did not accept treatment. Have been able to get him to eat a few tablespoons a day of apple sauce and pudding. As of 15 years ago 6 cervical vertebrae were calcified with a spur going into his esophagus. Suspect this is one of the many issues. Advanced prostate cancer, confusion, dizziness, heart issues in the past. Not able to stand on his own without my help to get him to bedside toilet. Receiving bed baths. Still able to swallow pills. About the care needs: Funny with a sense of humor. Patience of a saint. I would love if they could help making sure my dad is being kept clean, fresh clothes, linen change if needed. Bathroom/diaper change assistance. Help encourage to drink a sip of water and a bite of food if possible still. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
