About who needs care: Ideally the caregiver would either make or get Sallie's meals, help her shower and dress, and help her with small tasks around the cabin. Sallie will have lots of friends and family around, so entertaining her will not be a significant part of a caregiver job. Sallie loves classical music and opera and she played the piano for years. She loves to read. She is a big San Francisco baseball fan. Actually Sallie is an extremely board in her interests and they go on to include art, travel, education, history, and her family and many friends. An ideal day would be to make breakfast for Sallie to have at nine. Then help her with a shower and getting dressed. Then it is likely Sallie would have family and friends visiting before lunch. It would be lovely if the caregiver might offer Sallie and her friends ice water or maybe ice tea. Then get lunch or make lunch. Sallie takes a long nap, from about 12:30 to 4:30. The caregiver could use that time to organize dinner and then rest, read, do puzzles or whatever interested her. Dinner would probably be about 7. After dinner is completed, the caregiver would be welcome to stay overnight or go home.. About the care needs: Sallie would like someone who is personable. A person who is gentle, fun, likes all kinds of people, and is open to many ways to appreciate the world. The skills sets would be to able to listen carefully to Sallie. Sallie will be able to tell a caregiver what she needs. Sallie has difficulty using her hands and gets tired, but she is clear in her thinking. Also being able to prepare simple food, ie scrambled eggs, bacon, English muffins, tea, sandwiches, salads, etc. would be good, but food can also be gotten from a nearby kitchen, if the caregiver does not care to cook. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
