Morning shifts 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A list of our expectations: upon arrival bathe patient, get him dressed. Help transfer him from bed to wheelchair, and to table for breakfast. He needs hand fed help to eat. After breakfast be transferred back to bed. Light house keeping. We also have a 3rd shift position overnights 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Our expectations are that Care staff must stay awake during the shift. Responsibilities are: watch for changes in Howard's breathing. Change his position every 2 hours. Changes his brief every hour to 2 hours empty his catheter bag. Offer him water every 1 to 2 hours.
