About who needs care: My mother is almost completely blind and deaf. She speaks and thinks clearly, aside from some short term memory lapses. She used to sew but the only activities she can engage in now are listening to online Bible related materials (with a laptop and headphones), occasional chair exercises, and lots of naps. Depending on the hours spent with her, she would need one or two light meals. She is a grateful eater and not picky at all. No dietary restrictions. She doesn't need help with the bathroom or self care. Whoever stays with her will have a LOT of free time to do whatever they want, due to all the naps. Washing the meal dishes would be appreciated. No other household chores required. She lives with my sister and needs company while my sister works vendor shows on most weekends and occasional weekdays. My sister's schedule can be sporadic, but the shows are typically set up well in advance to be able to make a home care schedule. I hope! I would be inclined to ask for Care on Saturday and Sundays, to make it more consistent for scheduling, and us other sisters could fill in on those occasional weekdays. The required start times would vary between 10 a.m. and 1pm, with end times approx 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. There are some vendor shows in the warmer months where my sister doesn't get home until past midnight. That is a concern that can be addressed later. Thank you. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver will be patient. They will have a strong, direct voice. Mom simply cannot hear and understand soft voices, no offense. They will be willing to chat with her for a few minutes every so often. Conversations tire her out, but in a good way. At least it's an activity and any activity is good. As for a caregiver's hobbies/interests, they would be welcome to bring small projects with them as the hours can get long when it's so quiet. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
