About who needs care: My dad has Parkinson's Disease which primarily presents in slower processing speed (Mild Cognitive Impairment). He is otherwise healthy and happy. He lives with me (daughter), my husband and two teenagers. My husband and I both work full time, and my Dad would greatly benefit from a companion. Someone who can drive him to PT appointments, Parkinson's related fitness classes in Livonia, pickleball at the Summit in Canton, errands, etc and who will force him into conversation, maybe play simple games. No health care support needed. He's just the absolute sweetest man. He loves music. About the care needs: Someone who will treat my Dad with dignity, respect and patience. This person will talk to him in a normal conversational voice, not in baby-talk, saccharine, or condescending tones. He does often take a long time to process thoughts and ideas, so this person will need to be patient and give gentle prompts as necessary. My Dad is not religious or political, so any talk about either of those ("God has a plan" etc) would not be appropriate or appreciated. My dad is very funny and enjoys laughing. His hobbies include: pickleball, bike riding, music (guitar, singing), NYT puzzles, and watching TV. He is a retired software engineer. Someone who is active and enjoys walking, etc would be a great fit. My dad is just really gentle and sweet, not a "grumpy old man" at all. Thank you!! Services needed include: transportation, and companionship.
