About who needs care: The service would be for my grandfather. He has had multiple strokes and is immobile due to that, weakness, old age, inactivity, etc. He can stand and "walk" but he pretty much scoots and is very weak and off balance. I must pick him up as he cannot get up on his own. He is completely incontinent but refuses to wear adult diapers. He prefers to sleep on the couch in the living room so he can watch tv. We (myself and my uncle (uncle lives with him)) change his waterproof bed pads multiple times daily and bathe him in the living room as well. I am pregnant and once I reach 20 weeks, I will no longer be able to lift him. My uncle who lives with him is not in the best health and is sick often so there are times when he cannot adequately care for my grandfather. Once I reach a certain point in my pregnancy, it will be up to my uncle to solely on his own. He can feed himself, he just needs help getting up to be transferred to his favorite chair where he eats with his TV tray and watches TV. We are looking for an at home carer that is hopefully at least partially covered by my grandfather's Humana Medicare insurance. About the care needs: They need to be able to lift my grandfather and be willing to bathe him, cut his nails, shave his face, cut his hair when needed etc. I am only 110 lbs and am pregnant and I can lift him so the caregiver doesn't have to be extremely strong. Someone who can care for wounds would be helpful. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
