About who needs care: My dad has become full time caretaker for my mother. She has Alzheimers. She remembers family and can complete most basic hygiene, though I wonder if shes starting to slip on some things. My Dad is in his 80s and her care and behaviors have started to take a toll. Her behaviors are not horrible, mostly repetition and inability to process and retain new information. We know eventually we will be moving her to a memory care residence. Right now, mom loves to do laundry but hasn't changed bed sheets. She loves to play on the computer and spends way too much time talking to Kevin Costner(s), who all tell her shes pretty and for $8. 99 a month she will be queen of their fan club. Having someone in real life to help structure home activities while allowing her to help would be awesome. She has a weak knee that slows her up some and some chronic back pain. She has been fall free for sometime, just slow and shaky. Mom in her day worked as an engineer for Cessna. She was a very smart lady in her day. About the care needs: Ideal care giver will be able to help Mom do the things she likes to do. Cleaning the house, laundry, light cooking. Provider her companionship beyond just myself and my dad, a little respite. Help us transition into a memory care setting eventually. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
