About who needs care: Conditions: Diabetes HBP Fibromyalgia Chronic Pain Other Taking "multiple medications" for many health issues. Hobbies: I enjoy researching, playing multiplayer video games, movies, attending community events, theater, forming my nonprofit. Who am I looking for? Someone who: Must be a highly skilled communicator Must be sociable/talking and listening Must be reliable Must be organized Must help with organization Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds Must assist with medication management and reminders Must assist in meal planning (for someone with diabetes) Must help with meal preparation Must clean Must assist with exercising (floor, chair, walking, swimming, gym, etc.) Must run errands as needed: pharmacy, store, etc. Must attend appointments with me, as needed Must accompany me into the community Other (duties may be added or modified) Summing it up: I am a 57 year old woman. I have chronic health issues. I am mobile and independent. Multiple medical providers recommend I find a PA to assist me with various tasks, like medication management and reminders, meal planning/preparation for my diabetes and high blood pressure, I need help with organization, cleaning, exercising, transportation to and from medical appointments, lifting, shopping and errand running, community outings, sitting in earshot while I bathe, and additional duties as needed. The daily to-dos will be flexible. Start Time: Unless I have medical appointments or procedures, my day typically starts between 3pm or 4pm. Days: As far as the days go, unless I have appointments, or errands to run, they can be flexible. You would work 20 hours a week. The pay is $18.75 an hour currently, but will increase to $19.50 an hour in January 2026. You will be paid by the State of Illinois through the home services program. About the care needs: What type of personality would be a good fit? Cat: The PA would have to like/be friendly toward cats. I have one cat who is very clean and friendly. My home does not smell like cat (x). I clean the litter each day on my own - so that won't be a worry. Talking: Having lived alone for several years, I haven't had much of a chance to socialize with people, so I tend to talk a lot. The PA should enjoy having conversations and being sociable. Nonprofit: I am forming a nonprofit to empower women, so having feedback about the topics and workshop content would really be welcomed. Are there any specialized skills they need? They need to be flexible, a great cook, problem solver, compassionate, patient, reliable, trustworthy, be a good driver, committed, etc. Are they recovering from a recent surgery? I've had no recent surgeries. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
