About who needs care: He is an LVAD patient that has issues with mobility (uses a walker); some slight memory dysfunction; wears a permanent catheter. Lives at home with his 80-year-old wife, who is mobile, has a great memory, and handles all of his medication; but she needs help getting dad dressed, watching him when she cannot, possibly running errands with him. He may need overnight care (not sure yet), but otherwise looking for assistance getting dressed and ready each morning, getting breakfast, some light activity that will wake him up and start his day. About the care needs: Dad is a retired schoolteacher (automotive instructor), military veteran (USMC), loves watching westerns. Likes to go for walks when he has the energy. Sense of humor and patience are the two most important personality traits in caregiver. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
