About who needs care: My grandmother has early signs of dementia. She has trouble drinking fluids, swallowing her pills, and she cannot walk or support her own weight at all. She mostly watches television all day. She uses the restroom by going in her paper pants (diaper), and then needs to be changed. During this shift, she should only need to be changed once or not at all. She may need help being transferred from her chair to her wheelchair, or from her wheelchair to her bed. She has a hospital bed that is adjustable. She also has a gate that needs to be put on the side of her bed to ensure she doesn't get out of her bed once she is in the bed. She forgets that she cannot walk, and tries to get out of bed. About the care needs: I am looking for a caregiver with a good attitude who is happy to sit with my grandmother. This caregiver should be able to lift and transfer my grandmother from her wheelchair to her bed (we will show you how to lift her, or you may lift her however you would prefer to). She needs to be given her pills and encouraged to drink as much water as possible. This one time job could turn into a potential live-in role, if the caregiver is the right fit for us and this first job goes well. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
