About who needs care: I have ALS and am speech impaired and physically very limited. I need help to get out of bed, get to the bathroom and people bring me food. I am pretty much bed bound. I need someone to be with me when my husband has medical or other appointments because it's not safe for me to be alone. About the care needs: Someone who understands that ALS is a progressive disease with no cure. Also need a person who has compassion for me being physically very challenged and unable to speak except with my AI voice on my phone when I type messages. I am cognitively fine and a retired national medical society executive. I enjoy people who are sharp, witty and have a good sense of humor. Someone may need to help me out of bed and chairs and to the bathroom and possibly bring food or drinks from the kitchen. Someone who could help me with my rollator and or wheel chair and take me outside for a walk with my wheel chair. My husband has medical and other appointments and I need someone to stay with me when he is gone. I am very weak and can't really do anything by myself. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
