About who needs care: He is a special needs adult child. Who has just turned 40. He is a quadriplegic cerebral palsy individual with a very innocent and loving personality. He has a SupraPubic catheter and a VP SHUNT. He is severely mentally challenged, but follows directions well. He loves to watch Power Rangers and Paw Patrol just to name a few but he also have other interests. His day starts with me checking his blood sugar, medicating him and flushing his catheter and then emptying his urine collection bag. Then when the aide comes in, he gets a bed bath and gets dressed for the day. He then is taken to the living room where he spends the day watching television and eating his meals. He then is taken back to his room by 7:00 p.m. to get ready for bed and relax watching television until nighttime medication and a diaper change. About the care needs: Someone whos not afraid to interact with people with severe disabilities. They also would have to know how to operate an electric hoyer lift. Be responsible enough to do light housekeeping and keeping my son presentable at all times. Be able to accompany us to appointments as well as outings. Being able to cook is a must. Not be afraid to ask questions if and when they are not sure about anything. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
