About who needs care: This is for my mom (83yo) and stepfather (88yo). My mom has has a lot of health issues during the last 3 years that have affected her mobility and energy level, thus creating the need for help with housecleaning, grocery shopping, and laundry. My stepfather can drive but not after dark, and it would be helpful to have the option of a caregiver providing some transportation (to medical appointments, errands, etc.) My mom is a morning person who gets up early and is productive in the morning. My stepfather gets up a little later and is more active in the afternoon. They are pretty codependent and don't have a whole lot of outside activities -- social or hobbies or otherwise. About the care needs: I think a pretty independent personality would be a good fit, someone who is friendly and polite but also allows my parents some space (not looking to make constant conversation or make them feel like they are losing much of their coveted privacy). My mom is very proud but also very frail and is realizing her limitations. My stepfather can sometimes be a little gruff, especially when he gets frustrated by his limitations, so someone who will be able to take that in stride. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
