About who needs care: Stroke 13 yrs. ago impairs her left side; hemianopsia loss of left visual field, ruining facial recognition, depth, sense of time; through years of not exercising she became weak, so that after a recent cluster of falls, she was unable to stand or walk. Just returned home after rehab facility. Tested there for cognition, she shows beginnings of dementia (her mother died of Alzheimers), but within framework of home, family, friends, routines, she is pretty functional. Just beginning to maybe recover ability to walk. About the care needs: Kingsley responds mostly to kindness, but also appreciates honesty. Caregiver should be very patient by nature. She is very religious, but we are also very "left wing". She needs help dressing and showering, and currently also getting up to go to the bathroom. She has slept a lot ever since her stroke, but we will be making an effort to get her up and more active, now that she has seen the result of not being active. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
